Imprinting Light
Cyanotype Workshop – Alternative Printing Techniques
Led by artist Sonia Martina

A hands-on workshop to discover cyanotype, an ancient alternative photographic printing technique.
Without the need for a darkroom, this process uses photosensitive salts to create captivating images in iconic shades of deep blue.
During the workshop, participants will explore the fundamentals of cyanotype, experimenting with natural light to create unique and creative compositions.

About Sonia Martina : After spending years in Rome and Berlin, Sonia has returned to Salento, where she continues to develop her artistic language through analog photography and visual art. Her research stands out for its innovative approach to analog photography, reinterpreting traditional techniques while drawing inspiration from avant-garde movements, the surrealist masters of the 1930s, and the experimental techniques of the 1960s and 1970s. She also incorporates the use of Polaroid and photographic manipulations, seeking a synthesis between photography and visual art. She specializes in eco-friendly development methods, such as Caffenol, as well as alternative and traditional darkroom printing techniques. Her work is driven by constant experimentation, including film manipulations through cuts, burns, and altering baths, the use of in-camera double exposures, and creative interventions during the printing process.
