OPEN STUDIO - APRIL

Debora Incorvaia (France), artist and chef, and Sofia Rudi (Ireland-Italy), artist and researcher in residence at Domus during April, will publicly present their personal research during the studio visit on Saturday, April 26, structured in two unique moments that also include a collective and experiential performance.

The detailed program: Invitation to Débora Incorvaia's sensory and culinary performance, combining poetry, ritual, sensory exploration, and food (Registration required by sending a WhatsApp message to 393.9122997 no later than April 24)

<THE WORKSHOP PERFORMANCE> This experience goes beyond cooking: it's an anthropological, poetic, and sensory reflection on what we eat and the invisible stories each food item holds. First moment – Collective creation and tasting: Participants will be invited to create an edible landscape using symbolic ingredients. A gesture of memory and sharing, to be savored together, nourishing both body and imagination. Second moment – Poetic performance / An action that reflects on the human power to transform flowers into food, to change the meaning of what grows, of what is sacred or useful, sweet or sharp.

<A work connected to the territory> This performance is part of a participatory artistic research journey in collaboration between Debora Incorvaia and Apulian curator Rosita Ronzini, and with local entities such as La Casa delle Agricolture. An open space to exchange stories, question our beliefs, and rediscover a direct connection with the land and what nourishes us.

(Debora Incorvaia) <I decided not to choose between art and cooking, but to merge these two passions by creating culinary works deeply rooted in the environment. My work revolves around culinary research, whether plastic or edible. My creations question and celebrate the natural world around us, highlighting biodiversity and fragile ecosystems. I draw inspiration from nature's cycles and the symbiotic relationships between living beings, incorporating often overlooked local and seasonal ingredients to raise awareness about the importance of sustainability. At Domus, during the workshop performance on Saturday, April 26, we will compose a culinary and sensory work, a living ritual that speaks of seasons, of the need to return to a deep, fertile, forgotten land. On a white sheet, like a shroud, or a table set for the dead, we will trace a path. A path made of threads, pigments, smells, materials, and voices. A journey that speaks of the living, of knowledge transmitted by the body, of nourishment for the spirit, of care.>

(Sofia Rudi) <ERANOVA is a poetic-political performance and sound installation that reinvents a disappeared Calabrian village, erased in the 1970s for the Port of Gioia Tauro, an infrastructural ghost that haunts the Italian south. Drawing on archival images, oral history, field recordings, and southern mythologies, ERANOVA weaves testimonies, cartography, and allegory into a choral elegy.>

QUICK EVENING SCHEDULE 5:00 PM sharp: Meeting of registered participants to actively participate in the culinary performance. Performance begins at 5:30 PM. The performance is open to ALL, active participants and general audience. However, only registered participants can take active part. The performance will end at 7:30 PM. 7:30 PM > Public discussion on the artistic research conducted by Debora Incorvaia and Sofia Rudi during April for the In_Residence international residency program.
