SOFIA RUDI
Resident of April 2025
Sofia Rudi Kent (1998) is an Irish-Italian artist, researcher, and curator based in London. She holds a B.A. in Fine Art Media and Critical Cultures from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, and is currently completing an MA in Research Architecture at Goldsmiths, London. Her work often explores modes of communication, whether through silence, translation, dialect, or whispers. She is forever trapped in an ongoing effort to capture the essence of place—politically, visually, and in its complex, layered entirety. Currently, her practice investigates the Italian hinterlands of the South, seeking to understand state-building projects through the lens of unfinished infrastructures and cattedrali nel deserto. By collecting sound, myths, archival materials, and engaging in script writing, Sofia aims to move beyond the historical framing of the Southern Question, seeking a more nuanced and comprehensive understanding of this region and investigate what the production of unfinished state funded infrastructures have truly done.
