A doctor and psychiatrist, he has been active since the 1990s in clinical, managerial, and educational fields. Elected as the fiduciary of Slow Food Lecce (currently its president), he organized the establishment of the Slow Food Zafaran Community of local saffron producers. He actively participates in the processes for developing a city food policy based on a protocol signed with the Municipality of Lecce. He also works as a trainer in schools throughout the province of Lecce, promoting healthy lifestyles and proper nutrition. He has organized numerous cultural events to promote and educate about food, and he leads the Slow Food "Triticum" community of traditional grain producers.
In recent years, Slow Food Lecce has established and led the following communities: Griot (multiethnic catering), Zafaran (solidarity saffron producers of Salento), Triticum (guardians of ancient cereals of Salento), and the Morciano di Leuca Tomato Community.
